Poodle Schnauzer Mix
A Poodle Schnauzer mix is a cross between a Poodle and a Schnauzer. Most grow into small dogs of 10–18 lb and live 11–16 years.
Photos show the purebred parents. There is no single look for a mix: puppies in one litter can resemble either side.
How big does a Poodle Schnauzer Mix get?
Pounds. The dark band is where most Poodle Schnauzer Mix dogs end up; the light band is the full range between the smallest and largest parent.
Height runs 11–14 inches at the shoulder, against 10–15 in for the Miniature Poodle and 12–14 in for the Schnauzer.
Size figures assume a Miniature Poodle parent, the size closest to the Schnauzer. A different poodle size moves the whole range.
Figures are for the Miniature Schnauzer, the size most mixes come from.
Coat, energy and training
Poodle and Schnauzer have low-shedding coat, so some puppies shed little. It is not guaranteed: coat type varies even within one litter, and no dog is truly hypoallergenic.
Daily walks and some play are enough for most of these dogs.
The Poodle rates very high and the Schnauzer very high; a puppy may lean either way.
Expect regular brushing and professional grooming every few weeks.
Temperament
The Poodle is usually described as active, proud, very smart. The Schnauzer as friendly, smart, obedient. A mix can take after either parent or land in between. If you can, meet both parents of a puppy before you choose.
