Schnauzer Basset Hound Mix
A Schnauzer Basset Hound mix is a cross between a Schnauzer and a Basset Hound. Most grow into medium-sized dogs of 25–40 lb and live 12–14 years.

Photos show the purebred parents. There is no single look for a mix: puppies in one litter can resemble either side.
How big does a Schnauzer Basset Hound Mix get?
Pounds. The dark band is where most Schnauzer Basset Hound Mix dogs end up; the light band is the full range between the smallest and largest parent.
Height runs 12–14 inches at the shoulder, against 12–14 in for the Schnauzer and 13–15 in for the Basset Hound. The parents differ a lot in size, so litters vary more than usual. Breeders normally use the larger breed as the mother to keep whelping safe.
Figures are for the Miniature Schnauzer, the size most mixes come from.
Coat, energy and training
Schnauzer has a low-shedding coat, so some puppies shed little. It is not guaranteed: coat type varies even within one litter, and no dog is truly hypoallergenic.
Short daily walks usually do. Watch the weight, because low-energy dogs put it on easily.
The Schnauzer rates very high and the Basset Hound low; a puppy may lean either way.
Expect regular brushing and professional grooming every few weeks.
Temperament
The Schnauzer is usually described as friendly, smart, obedient. The Basset Hound as charming, patient, low-key. A mix can take after either parent or land in between. If you can, meet both parents of a puppy before you choose.
